I can't get the clock to stay at the same time. I set it using the date command, then when I reboot it's wrong again.
I have /etc/conf.d/clock set to use local time, so I don't think Windows is messing up my BIOS clock. |

date only sets your system time, not the hardware clock. use hwclock for that.
in /etc/conf.d/hwclock you have an option for syncing the hardware clock and the system time.
if you want really accurate time, use net-misc/ntp. |

Thanks.
I'm not really looking for super accurate time, it's just annoying that the clock is off by 5 or 6 hours.
I'll try NTP anyway, I've had bad experiences with Windows messing up my hardware clock all the time. |

I think alex meant you can directly use the hwclock
command to set the hwclock, namely with command
ntp won't stop windows from messing with your
clock and it's like using a sledgehammer to kill a fly _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth
doing as simply messing about with Linux ...
