When I try to open /media in either Nautilus or Dolphin it says I don't have permission to view the folder. In Nautilus, it has a red X icon next to it. How do I get the permission I need? Do I need to add myself to a specific group? |

First of all check which permissions /media actually *has* and then add yourself to the group which is assigned to (and has hopefully write-permissions for) this directory ...

PS: Normally this group is "plugdev".
PPS: Don't forget to *completely* log out after adding yourself to this group ... |

I tried adding myself to plugdev when I set up Gentoo, but it didn't let me, I tried it again, and relogged in, didn't work. So I tried again, and now it seems to be working. |
