|
|
I don't know if anyone else noticed this or had this problem, but from the 2007 install CD, I had to add an extra letter - any letter - to the name of my wireless router, because the last letter would get chopped off. If I did iwconfig wlan0 essid myrouter and then checked again with iwconfig, it would say the essid is "myroute", without the final "r". However, doing iwconfig wlan0 essid myroutera would list "myrouter" correctly.
And the handbook needs to tell people to do dhcpcd wlan0 after running iwconfig.
Just sayin'. _________________ decibel Linux: https://decibellinux.org

The 2007.0 CD is pretty old and nowadays the SystemRescueCD is very popular |

Until the updated stages are produced on a regular basis, it is almost a requirement to use the Funtoo stages as well. By the way, I just finished a new install using the SystemRescueCD. It is exactly the same as using the Gentoo minimal installation disc, and following the handbook. _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)

I'm currently building Stages and Snapshots from Funtoo.org for my AMD64 installation with Metro 1.1.
It rocks, I made a Stage 1-2-3 fr_CA without any problem.
So, the combinaison of Funtoo.org and SystemRescueCD is the only way to be update to date when you install a new box.
I have 2 friends that have switched to the Git gentoo.org and the Git funtoo.org tree.
The git gentoo.org is an exact copy of the portage tree but in git format.
The git funtoo.org tree is the playground of Daniel Robbins. There a lot of packages inside that. For exemple, you have a Xen kernel 2.6.27 from my friend Destroyfx. |
