Hi,
I'm trying to set Xfce as useful desktop environment and have some problems.
First, I didn't figure out what to do to allow application-based keyboard layout switching. Means I'd like to work the way that I switch to czech keyboard layout in Opera and when I focus to Terminal, it'll be english. And czech when focusing on Opera again. KDE can do this and I really need this feature, it spares plenty of time and nerves. Hope I don't have to use KDE's Kxkb or what is the process that does the work.
Second, some aplications (Transmission, Amarok, some IMs) just close their window when you click on "close" ... it behaves like it's hidden to tray. The problem is I have nothing like this in Xfce, the icon of this window won't show anywhere and I have no idea how to make that window visible again. I was adviced to use dcop, but it's not actually KDE thing - Transmission is not based on KDE, for example.
Thanks for any advice. _________________ Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality. |

For your keyboard problem try emerging xfce-extra/xfce4-xkb, its a panel plugin.
Second, you need to add a System Tray to the panel, Right Click on Panel-> Add New Item-> System Tray
Apps like Claws, Tramismission etc have options to "Close" to the Tray Icon, probably what its (trying) todo
Good luck |
