Hello

I've juste re-emerged hplip because my printer (PhotoSmart 4180) printed bad things sometimes (like this).

Now:
- i can print as normal user
- i can access the printer as root (for ink levels, etc, using hp-levels, hp-toolbox,...)
- i cannot use hp-toolbox as normal user. The program starts, but it outputs a communication error with the printer:

Code:
lau@GEDM! ~ $ hp-toolbox

HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 2.8.6b)
HP Device Manager ver. 14.0

under certain conditions. See COPYING file for more details.

error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/usb/Photosmart_C4100_series?serial=MY6BAG13P204J7
warning: Device not found

Do you have an idea why this is happening?

Although this is not much help, I've found numerous problems with hp-toolbox and other hp-* tools (hplip same version as yours) refusing to recognize hardware (which otherwise worked fine), claiming it not to exist, etc., and then finding it later on. I never could resolve this issue.
