Hi all,
I've been trying to install Gentoo on my eeePc 901 for two days... Everything was right until today when I tried to emerge gnome-light (yesterday, everything worked for the emerge of xorg-server, xorg-x11).
(I have two ssd disks : hdc -> 4Go, hdd -> 8Go, hdc is / for the moment and later I'll mount portage and /home on the hdd).
So, when I try to emerge gnome-light, it tells me that "No space left on device".
Immediately I typed "df -h" and here's the result :
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hdc1 3.7G 1.9G 1.7G 53% /
udev 10M 140K 9.9M 2% /dev
shm 501M 0 501M 0% /dev/shm
I should have 1.7G left but when I type a df -i :
Filesystem Inodes IUsed IFree IUse% Mounted on
/dev/hdc1 246016 246015 1 99% /
And then, I don't know what to do... can you help me please? Thank you! _________________ All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy... |

You are out of inodes on /, so no new files can be created. As far as I know, you cannot increase the total number of inodes without recreating the filesystem, which would destroy everything on it. You can probably recover a substantial number of inodes if you move /usr/portage over to the second drive. As of my last sync, the Portage tree used 130357 inodes, not counting distfiles or prebuilt packages. That accounts for over half your inode usage, not counting the inodes for downloaded source code. |
