is there a way to recover unallocated sectors with fdisk? Right now, I'm dual booting with XP. I pretty much followed Plate's guide. However, after repartitioning everything for Gentoo (boot/swap/root) fdisk tells me that I have 372 unallocated sectors and partition magic gives me error 114 and refuses to even show my partitions.
I wouldn't even bother to recover those if PartitionMagic worked correctly. However, it does not. Is there a way to fix this without repartitioning everything from scratch? By that I mean, is there a way to fix the HD partition table?
Right now I have something like this: (using xp)
/dev/hda1 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2 Win95 Extended ..
/dev/hda5 Linux
/dev/hda6 Linux Swap
/dev/hda7 Linux
/dev/hda8 Win95 Fat32
/dev/hda9 Win95 Fat32
Last two partitions are for backup which must be fat32 because I use them with Win too. Also, that is why I don't feel like erasing everything.
It's also oh so late.
Thanks for all the help. _________________ warning: `class GroveImpl' only defines a private destructor and has no friends. |
