I'm having a huge problem.

I'm not quite sure if it's compatible.. but I think it [should] be.

In the bios is an option for Intel SpeedStep to be disabled or enabled.

jerusalem moses # /etc/init.d/cpufreqd start
* cpufreqd requires the kernel to be configured with CONFIG_CPU_FREQ

according to the specs at http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLA2D you dont have speedstep. you could try the p4_clockmod module instead. this should allow you to change the frequencies (maybe).

I have celeron m530. It doesn't have any frequency scalling capatibility. p4_clockmod works, it shows change of frequency in /proc/cpuinfo. Computer runs slower,,,, but it doesn't save any power. :D

that's odd. then i'll have to go in the bios and disable it (it was enabled by default) and try the above ;/

I still get the same thing when trying to start cpufreqd and when i run cpufreq-info after compiling p4-clockmod into the kernel.

Upgrade your cpufrequtils. Version 002 doesn't work with newer kernels.
