Hi:

I want to use the GIMP to create logos, specially going to Script-Fu ==> Logos.

But then in some cases, for example "Cool Metal" doesn't show the images the right way. It doesn't show smooth characters.

I use GIMP 1.2.4 right now. What do I do to correct this problem?

The character smoothness will have a lot to do with the font you've chosen to use in the "Cool Metal" script-fu. Have you tried different fonts? Be sure to check out the different font styles for any font you choose. I have some font styles that are very pixelated. Usually the iso8859-1 character set is the one I pick but I don't know what you have at your disposal. You could also try applying a 1 pixel Gaussian Blur to the Cool Metal text layer or flatten the image and apply it to the whole image. It can also help to go big with the initial image generation by specifying the font size to be something like 200 pixels. Then scale the image down to the size you really want it.

If you still have problems then perhaps you could place some sample images on a web page so we can see what's going on.

Good luck!

Hi

Just telling everyone that the problem has been fixed. I emerged the gimp 1.3.21, and though it is still in development, it is stable enough for me to work with it. And the problem with the fonts have been solved just by installing it. So, if anyone else has this problem, I recommend them to:

#emerge media-gfx gimp-1.3.21.ebuild
