Well, I'm a sort of a newbie in Gentoo, so maybe this is a little silly question . Anyway, is there 2.6.27 kernel available in some repositories for Gentoo? Or do I have to download it from kernel.org? What dangers are involved in it? What to be aware of? I need 2.6.27 because of some hardware requirements...

Tadeas,
There are no silly questions but watch out for silly answers.
The gentoo-sources testing branch is 2.6.27-r7 and it seems to work for me.
Add sys-kernel/gentoo-sources to /etc/portage/package.keywords to tell portage you want the testing gentoo-sources, then emerge gentoo-sources.
/etc/portage/package.keywords will not exist until you make it.
See man portage for the background _________________ Regards,

The unstable version of sys-kernel/gentoo-sources is 2.6.27. If you need it you need to add it to /etc/portage/package.keywords. Read up on package.* files at the gentoo site. |
