some reiserfs console messages, i think, from upstream;
REISERFS warning (device sda3): jdm-20004 reiserfs_delete_xattrs: Couldn't delete all xattrs (-13)
no reiser4, i hope, for now.

watch out for reiserfs problems !
they're currently removing the BKL (big kernel lock) and doing some optimizations so atm I wouldn't use it if you're having critical data which shouldn't get lost
what do you mean with Quote: | no reiser4, i hope, for now. | ?

hey ! reiser4 is missing ?!
rmh3093 take your time ...
thanks btw for your continued efforts in maintaining zen, guys |
2.6.30-rc2-zen0 is ready for testing....
numerous branches seems to be merged upstream, like the lzma compression patches, loop-AES, nilfs2, btrfs-experimental.... so dont be confused if you dont see a merger for some random branch, drm-next looks pretty old compared to rc2 so I am assuming those changes are in mainline already _________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. |

will someone test out -zen0 now that I am done merging in branches? make sure reiser4 works before I tag -zen1 _________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. |

2.6.30-rc2-zen0
erratic, unusable mouse/touchpad ("jumping" all over the screen), seems to be in part introduced by vanilla 2.6.30 but in the case of vanilla, mouse sometimes did not respond, in the case of recent zen, touchpad is too "vigorous" |

2.6.30-rc2-zen0
KMS
xf86-video-intel-2.7.0
xorg-server-1.6.0
Screen goes bonkers at random time intervals ... computer freezes and have to hard reboot. Actually, have had this problem from 2.6.29 onwards so not related specifically to .30-rc2. Was just hoping it will get solved with it.
Screenshot:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/rahulthewall3000/3425575081/
Plus, fonts get corrupted after switching between Virtual Terminal and X window (on X window). As in, some characters are displayed weirdly on the screen.
Both these problems might be related to the intel driver, I am just documenting them here.
And I didn't apply the patch mentioned here, since it says it is for 965+ and I am on 945. _________________ Who shall guard the guards? |

sorry if I report here:
just trying new mmotm: to have it compiled I had to include in my kernel config paravirtualized support, as some parav functions are called in mm.h, if not comp breaks for missing includes.
Code: | $ make

scripts/kconfig/conf -s arch/x86/Kconfig
CHK include/linux/version.h
UPD include/linux/version.h
CHK include/linux/utsrelease.h
UPD include/linux/utsrelease.h
SYMLINK include/asm -> include/asm-x86
HOSTCC scripts/basic/docproc
CC kernel/bounds.s
GEN include/linux/bounds.h
CC arch/x86/kernel/asm-offsets.s
In file included from include/linux/suspend.h:8,
from arch/x86/kernel/asm-offsets_32.c:11,

make[1]: *** [arch/x86/kernel/asm-offsets.s] Error 1

edit: if I don't make modules_install and boot, it works
but some of my modules is making it panic, I'll investigate better when I'll be back from work _________________ look for monty python channel on youtube |

strange thing, network between my desktop pc and laptop works fine when first one started under 2.6.28-zen13 but when i start desktop with 2.6.29-zen1 network stops working at all after few seconds communicating with laptop. the only thing what i can do in this case is reboot pc.
usually i use both computers at the same time. one directly and another via ssh.
some info on pc:
Code: | # lspci |grep net
00:0a.0 Bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 Ethernet Controller (rev a3) |
here is diff between kernel configs http://dpaste.com/37150/ _________________ rion-overlay |

why not try 2.6.29-zen2 ? (although I don't think that it will fix the problem) _________________ https://github.com/kernelOfTruth/ZFS-for-SystemRescueCD/tree/ZFS-for-SysRescCD-4.9.0

the overlay is updated when a kernel is released, I didnt release a .30-rc* kernel yet, still waiting on feedback about .30-rc2-zen0, problem is too many of you will only use snapshots, so its a no win situation _________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. |

Thanks for the info.
.30-rc2-zen0 is working perfectly for me. I am not using reiser4.
KMS is working well as well.
Are you going to pull in the rc3 soon? _________________ Who shall guard the guards? |

sorry,
here's feedback:
2.6.30-rc2-zen0 running smooth and fast here
no problems and/or hickups so far with reiser4 and reiserfs
thanks !
so there should be no problem in updating to 2.6.30-rc3* (includes several fixes and improvements for cfq, ...) _________________ https://github.com/kernelOfTruth/ZFS-for-SystemRescueCD/tree/ZFS-for-SysRescCD-4.9.0

Another happy 30-rc2-zen0 user here. Don't know if you're looking for feedback on any specific areas of the kernel, but everything works for me. |
