Acabado de instalar gentoo con un portatil, le toca el turno al sobremesa, pero me da bastantes problemas la grafica, he instalado los ati-drivers y al ejecutar startx me sale esto:

¿Has probado a generar un nuevo xorg.conf con la utilidad de ATI fglrxconfig?

Prueba con aticonfig, creo recordar que cambió de nombre en alguna versión.

Hola Kalmath, al principio del log que mandaste te da este error:

Deshabilita la Use Flag acpi si es que no la estas usando, y reinstala o compila el modulo de nuevo.
Sin embargo no creo que este ahí el problema, el comando que buscas se llama ATICONFIG, generalmente en la primera instalación del driver se usa así dice el mensaje de portage cuando lo instalaste:

Lo que hace "aticonfig --initial" es agregar a tu xorg.conf las líneas:

Yo prefiero hacerlo a mano (las opciones pueden variar según el rendimiento de tu GPU), espero te sirva. |

Bueno he conseguido arrancar startx, pero no se como porque he metido mucho la mano probando, pero creo que lo he conseguido de esta manera:
primero cree un xorg.conf con esto
# xorgcfg -textmode (solo añadi el teclado y el raton y lo guarde)
despues hice:
# /opt/bin/aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf esto lo cogi de esta web http://www.gentoo-wiki.info/ATI_drivers
Al ejecutar startx, despues de los pasos anteriores se me quedo la pantalla en negro, creo que se me colgo el pc, fue reiniciar y volver a probar y meter de nuevo startx y me funcionó.
Creo que me falta completar mas el xorg.conf pues el texto se ve muy poco definido.
Gracias a pcmaster y a edgar_uriel84 por vuestras respuestas, mientras me respondiais estaba escribiendo esto. Creo que doy el tema por zanjado.
