Dear All,
I usually keep my computer switched on all night to download portage packets from the net. To my horror the data transfer stops after 1.5-2 hrs and the computer goes into stand by mode. only if I regularly keep moving the mouse that the background download happens.
Please let me know what configuration changes are required to shut down APM / ACPI used by the computer if any. (I would however like the system to shut down the monitor to conserve power). Have tried sending 'acpi=no' at the boot up as a kernel option but nothing happens and there is a USB device failure due to this kernel option.
Regards, |

If you're running GNOME or KDE, go to power saving settings, and disable stand by mode altogether. |

I am using Gnome and have already disabled the power management. Have chosen the option "computer goes into sleep = Never"
Still facing the same problem. I think it is some internal kernel acpi at work. How do I disable that? |
