I am unable to see symbols on some pages. For instance when i go to http://searchdatacenter.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid80_gci803019,00.html# many of the symbols are not visible for me. Instead I see an icon where the symbols should be. The icon is a picture of a torn piece of paper. I assume this means that i need to install some kind of special language option, locale etc.....?
Can anyone direct me here? |

Most of the symbols there are math symbols, so I would think you need to install media-fonts/mathematica-fonts to view them. _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

They are broken image links over here... I don't think any fonts are going to help that. |

Yeah, most of the special characters on that page are actually images, not text. Right now everything seems to work.
You should also check character encoding in cases like this. Firefox can automatically detect the right setting, which works 99% of the time: In the GUI, look into View --> Character Encoding --> Auto-Detect --> Universal. Alternatively, go to about:config and filter for "charset". The relevant setting is "intl.charset.detector". It should be set to "universal_charset_detector" for auto-detection. |
