solved: FF3 ignores "mailto:" even if the settings seems to

be correctly both within about: config and within KDE environement
Is there a solution beside the usual "RTFM" ?

I had that problem for a long time; about:config setting was fine but mailto-addresses were not being opened.
then I saw the "mailto" entry under:

edit > preferences > applications

I set claws-mail as the application to execute and it worked since.
I wonder if that helps for you, too.
