My system is using an Epox EP-8RDA motherboard with nforce 2 chipset. I compiled the kernel according to the install instructions for 1.4_rc4, however, when I try to boot it, it crashes after giving a message that nforce2 drivers aren't compiled in. Basically, my keyboard locks up (it's ps/2, so USB support isn't the problem) and the boot goes into infinite loop.

I should also note that the LiveCD boots fine.

I've tried a number of different kernel settings, all to no avail. Any help would be welcome.

have you loaded the module into the kernel correctly? you need to make sure /boot is mounted when you copy the bzImage to the /boot partition. also what settings do you mean by "a number of different settings." a little more info would be helpful. thanks.

I tried enabling all of the nforce-related settings.

Interesting... I have the + version of your mobo, and nothing happens to me (well, not the way you're doing it... something different entirely is happening to me.) Why not try to get the BIOS update from Epox? Just a guess...

I will try updating the motherboard BIOS and see what happens. Thank you for the suggestion.

As for compilation steps, I am following the directions in the x86 install documents on the site. I am compiling from a stage 3 tarball.
