cd-only, no network install: can't emerge metalog

I'm trying to install Gentoo using only the CD with the stage3 tarball (no network). I compiled my kernal ok but when I try to "emerge app-admin/metalog" it tries to download the source and fails. I take it that the metalog sources are not included in the stage3 tarball?

Is there a way to install Gentoo completely from the CD only?
