I know the topic of dual booting has been discussed ad nauseum already, but in all of them, the bootloader in question is GRUB. I followed instructions on how to do it with LILO (I don't have the site offhand, I'm at work now.. keeps getting in the way) by adding a bootsector copy into my boot.ini. This gave me the NT Loader screen with the two options as expected, but upon selecting Gentoo, I was greeted with the following error:

Quote:
<windows 2000 root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe : file does not exist or corrupted

Now, not wanting to boot into my w2k partition, I don't quite understand why it cares. I can't post the exact boot.ini now, but if needed I can later. By the way, Windows is on my primary HD, and Gentoo is on a slave, just in case that matters at all.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem? Windows boots fine (shockingly) but it doesn't seem to want to reach Gentoo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My boot.ini reads as follows:

Quote:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
C:\bootsect.lnx="Gentoo 1.4 rc4"

Where bootsect.lnx was created by:

Quote:
dd if=/dev/hdb1 of=bootsect.lnx bs=512 count=1

Lilo worked the first time for me, so I'm stumped.

BTW, I've fixed the error from the first part, but it still refuses to boot, it just gives me a blinking cursor in the top right corner.
