hey all,
i want to have the /usr partition on /dev/hdb1, while the ROOT/BOOT/SWAP are on /dev/hdaX
...could some one point me in the right direction?

yeah
mount it as /usr before doing the gentoo install
so basically, when you mount /mnt/gentoo
do a mkdir /mnt/gentoo/usr
mount /dev/hdb1 /mnt/gentoo/usr
extract your stage tarball
then continue building like normal
when you get to fstab, make an entry that looks just like boot but point it at /usr and /dev/hdb1, and make the flags look like /'s (ie without noauto) |
