I was thinking that if people are interested in forming a Gentoo clan for ET we should talk about it here, and get things started! |

I play ET a lot, my name in ET is Niek[Linux][GoT]. I'm playing very often on the XS4ALL server (good ping, no noobs, good config). Todat I saw another player with the tag hisname[FR/Gentoo] (don't remember his name exactly, was something beginning with mu...). Perhaps we can make a "universal" Gentoo multiplayer games tag (not only ET, but also CS, Q3, AA, etc.), like: Yourname[YC/Gentoo], where YC is your country, like NL or US or DE.
What do you guys think about this?
I think using such a "recognition"-tag is better (at least easier) than forming a real clan with clanfights, clanleaders, a site, etc. _________________ Bezoek ook eens de Nederlandstalige Gentoo IRC channel op irc.freenode.net - #gentoo-nl |

Fully agree, the hard part is which of the 50+ servers are you playing on at the moment? That's where a problem comes in. |

I also play, but only on the danish boomtown servers so I get a good ping (<30).
I think I'll include [Gentoo/linux] or something in my nick. |

I used to play under 'w0r' but now just port001 so fellow Gentoo'ers recognise me. I met DuF on one server I'd wear the tag, but I'm not sure about my availability for clan matches. _________________ a.k.a port001

I play as Lovechild - unless something is horribly wrong I'm always playing covert op.
I'll now be [DK/GENTOO]Lovechild |

great, atleast we're getting something together. I'll switch my nick to [US/Gentoo]daSilVetZ from now on. Generally i'm an engineer, occasionally i switch to covert ops depending on the mission. Unfortunately it's going to be hard to get low pings for all of us on the same server, as we aren't based in the same countries, but hopefully we can think of something or agree on something soon. I wouldn't mind putting together a website- or helping out on one if we get serious |

I play as Vidar and am an Engineer. Maybe I'll go [Gentoo]Vidar, but I'm not really available for organized clan matches and stuff like that. _________________ "Vidar, Odin's mighty son, he will come to slay the wolf

[CA/GENTOO]Markos
I usually play as whatever class the team needs when I join.
If someone could host a linux user et server, that would be kick ass. |

I'd be game for organized play. I tend to play Medic (and am somewhat good at it once I get going), although I will play Engie in a pinch.

So does anyone around here have the bandwidth to host a server? Assuming most folks can play in the evenings, we may need one for the US and one for Europe...
My lowly DSL will not support a server with more than, say, 4 people. |

Where's the best place for a lowly newcomer to the game, to learn? I tried playing last night but ended up being called retarded for accidently killing a teammate
(It's OK though, I switched teams and just started a vendetta against him / her! ) |

You should probably stick to servers with friendly fire disabled for now, until you learn the ropes. The in game server browser supports filtering servers by friendly fire. |

I host a small server (on my dsl connection), 12 players worked fine (overal ping good enough) and I am now testing 20 players (on my p2-400/192mb)
I am not very experienced with the dedicated servers of games based on q3 (more tribes/ut) but it running fairly well.
try it at 130.89.224.22 _________________ In "old" Europe we already have a word for "pre-emptive strikes" mr Bush: its called "war" |
