So I emerged vlc and xvid but when I try to play a video encoded with xvid, VLC reports that no decoder is available.
These are my use flags:
X a52 acpi alsa aspell bzip2 cairo cdparanoia css cups dbus dri dvd expat fam fat firefox foomaticdb gdbm gif glitz gnome gtk hal java jpeg ldap mad midi mmx mp3 mpeg msn ncurses nls ntfs opengl pam pcmcia pcre pdf pnf png ppds python reiserfs samba sdl spell sse ssl svg threads tiff unicode usb wifi win32codecs x86 xcb xorg xv zip zlib
I did emerge vlc with qt4 support. Any ideas?

Hi,
Umm, I hate to have to say this, but I don't actually see the xvid USE flag listed there.
It is a global flag that's enabled in desktop profiles, iirc.

Yes I can see that. However VLC - In Windows, Ubuntu etc. - does support Xvid. ffmpeg is the only package I have installed that uses the xvid flag - which I recompiled - yet VLC still can't play the videos. |

I guess compiling VLC with the ffmpeg USE flag enabled helps. |
