I can run celestia from MythTV, using mythgame. I'd now like to control it with my remote, using lirc. Is this possible? The manual entry for irpty (part of lirc) suggests that it is, that it can pass arbitrary keyboard key presses to programs.

I tried launching celestia like this:

irpty ~/.lircrc -- celestia --nofork

where the ~/.lircrc file has entries such as:

begin
prog = celestia
button = Radio
config = p
end

But it doesn't respond to button presses on the remote. The remote itself works fine (e.g. with MythTV).

Should I be able to do this? Or does this only work with lirc-friendly programs? Perhaps I need to refer to the keys on the keyboard in a different way?
