hi all,

I once was trying to use loop-aes to encrypt my local file systems.
loop-aes has the VERY big advantage of having gpg support, however, it is not really very official to gentoo so upgrading would be very hard each dirty time.

crypto-api is said to be able to encrypt devices, too. Is it also possible to encrypt root filesystems with it? if so, how? can someone point me to a nice howto?

It's also not very clear what to use, crypto-api (via useflag crypt) or aes-crypt (which shall be loop-aes/aespipe?)

Also, the current util-linux (2.12) has the crypto stuff commented out. This is NOT really funny, so, how to encrypt devices with gentoo finally?

Many thanks,
Christian Parpart.

Sorry, but I did not find any on how to create an encrypted root fs using CryptoAPI.

Thanks,
Christian Parpart.
