Hi all,

I have some problems to get dualhead working with fglrx.

I have X.org 1.4.2, ati-drivers 8.501 and kernel 2.6.25.20 but I can't seem to get this working with two monitors.
My graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (detected as 9600 M10).
Maybe it is also interesting to know that the internal monitor of my laptop is 1024x768, and the external 1680x1050.

I always get some blank screen with a few colored lines (3 green or red lines or something) or I get a black screen that gets lighter and lighter (black turns into dark green, green, ...).

I have tried with radeon drivers, which work but not fully. I can get dualhead working, HOWEVER, ONLY when I use 2 X servers and even then, when I play a video on the external monitor, there are all colored little bars in the player window.
When I try with xrandr to put one screen next to the other (again another config for this) I get the message that the I-cant-remember-the-name is too small and that it needs 1680x...

Maybe someone can tell me what versions they have so I can check up on my machine. Do I need any other unstable packages?

This is the output from lspci

kernel: 2.6.25-r9
ati-drivers: 8.501 (also a [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10])
xorg: 1.3

works like a charm with every monitor/projector I've ever gotten my hands on:).
Does clone view work? (should work out of the box)

I get that black screen ass well (nowadays less and less). It just fades away to evil white.
But I only get it from time to time with no apparent reason. And never when using dualhead.

Perhaps you could post your xorg.conf? But I assume you've used aticonfig --initial=dual-head?

For now I have it working correctly with radeon drivers.
I have added a ticket to test the same setup with the versions you said of ati-drivers and xorg.

Thanks!
