Using 1.4 rc2 to install gentoo on a thinkpad t40. I am unable to get linux to recognize the device.
net-setup eth0 and selecting dhcp (or specifying values) results in :
Code: |
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: No such device
SIOCSIFBRDADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: No such device
SIOCSIFNETMASK: No such device
|
I tried changing the irq setting in bios (all were set to 11 originally). There isn't an option to disable PnP in bios, which strikes me as odd. _________________ The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them. -- George Orwell

So the kernel is incorrectly recognizing the network card as it should be e1000, not cs89x0. Anyone know how to fix this? _________________ The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them. -- George Orwell |

Requires a newer kernel - 2.4.20 or later. _________________ The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them. -- George Orwell |
