Digikam doesn't have a doc USE flag, but 4.2.2 kde stuff does. _________________ Jingle Jangle Jewellery |

i just updated to 4.2.2 (amd64), and plasma is consistantly using up 100% of one of my cores
edit:
not sure which one it was, but it was something with a desktop widget. removing and replacing either LCD Weather Station, Notes, or Calendar fixed the problem. |

I have similar problem as Drewgrange has. The plasma is using 100% of one CPU core. I havn't tryed if removing some plasmoids will fix the problem. |

Yes, the help files are back with 4.2.2, thanks for that.
No problems here with plasma. |

As an update to the plasma problem:
I got home to find one of my cores at full usage again. Getting rid of the Calendar widget took care of it. |

I currently have kde-4.2.1 (from sets) and kde-3.5.10 installed. I am trying to upgrade to kde-4.2.2. One of the seven blocking messages I get is as follows:
Code: | [blocks B ] kde-base/kdebase-data:4.3[-kdeprefix] ("kde-base/kdebase-data:4.3[-kdeprefix]" is blocking kde-base/kdebase-data-4.2.2, kde-base/kdebase-data-4.2.1) |
I have tried unmerging both kdebase-data-3.5.10 and kdebase-data-4.2.1, but whatever I have done so far does not remove this block. Attempting to unmerge using the package named in the block produces a "not invalid package atom error message. I am using Portage 2.2_rc28. Thanks in advance for any help with this
By the way, in order to remove the other blockers I need to temporarily rename sets.conf and sets in kde-testing (had the same issue emerging 4.2.1...found the workaround in a bug report). |

As always in such cases, examine contents of your /var/lib/portage/world and world_sets file.
I'm pretty certain that you have @kde*-4.2 there and trying to install @kde*-4.3 - you'll obviously get a block. _________________ Maciek |

After the last week update plasma often freezes for 3-4 seconds. I can't imagine, why. Simply working, and ops! - mouse stopped moving for several seconds. Look on top - plasma stays on top place. It's on phenom 9850 Black edition 4 cores... In addition ebuild for x11-drivers/ati-drivers-8.561 is completely removed from portage. It was working perfectly for me
Any advice about freezes? _________________ "The Matrix has you!" - "Let it be...." |

Nope my file types are in Japanese
I have LINGUAS='en ja zh_CN', its no big deal really but it does feel kind of inconsistent having random Japanese text mixed in with all the english. |

Fixed after re-compiling kdelibs and plasma-workspace with the newest gcc. But next problem happened:

KDE 4.2 compiled with kdeprefix ON. Keywords for kde 4.2 are under regular watch and correction from http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/kde.git;a=tree;f=Documentation/package.keywords;hb=master[/quote]
I don't want to lose openoffice and firewall indeed. What to do? - completely erase 3.5.9 "by hands"? - I think so, but advice will be useful. 3.5.10 unmasked in package.keywords like this:
Code: |
~kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.10
|

Looks like you only unmasked kdelibs, not other parts of kde3. If something tries to pull in something else from kde, it will pull in the 3.5.9 version (the one that's not masked or keyworded). |

The blocker is just a small 'b', so just emerge -uDN @world (or whatever the set is), portage should be able to cope with this and correctly uninstall the old version. I've seen this quite a bit with each KDE 4 update. Ignore it, just run the update, and it should work, if it bombs, post back here. _________________ Jingle Jangle Jewellery |
