My Marvell IDE hardware is awesomely nonworking, therefore I would like someone to recommend sata dvd-rw, which is able to run on gentoo, various livecd-s and makes life as little painful as possible! |

I think the main problem with SATA dvd drives and live CD's is down to the motherboard controller.
I'm using a Samsung SH-S203D, everything works as if it were IDE but I thank my trusty bad axe 2 for that . If you're not reading at full speed it's quite quiet too |

Sure, just now I have too much of respect towards new hardware... Who knows, what can bit me!
I assume, mostly those sata optical drives will work, if hard ones do, but if there is something I should avoid for good, please let me know! |
