Stage2 and LiveCD's 1/2 (GRP??)

I don't understand this clearly from the Gentoo Installationmanual.
It says if I start from Stage2 tarball I require internet access and basic or CD1.
So can I start from Stage2, do emerge system etc and THEN install XF86, KDE, and other progs from the LiveCD1 and CD2 ?[/quote]
