on board lan module not insmodding

my intel pro 100 Intel® 82562EZ isnt working with eepro100 or e100..

cat /proc/pci shows that its there , ethernet controller: pci device 8086:1050 (intel corp) (re.2) irq 20.

modprobe fails with device not found.

and the documentation supports up to aabout 8259x or something...

did you tried other modules?
or maybe it needs another module to be loaded before
for some networkcards i need the 'mii' module before i can load the module for the network card...

tried the e100 module from the 2.4.20 kernel, still no go,

but i found an e100 emerge! and it worked! so is it more up to date? so could i have had success with a newer kernel?
