Just look at them. I've actually never seen software CDs with any interesting artwork before - just a bunch of words, occasionally some flashy fonts, backgrounds, and such, but never anything like this. Seriously, I'm actually tempted to buy the i686 and G3 cd sets even though they wouldn't be all that useful to me.

Anyone know who designed them? It would also be kind of cool to know where the pictures were taken.

No kidding. I would love to know. I wouldn't be surprised if it was drobbins. I think he has some experience with graphic design if I'm not mistaken.

Agreed!

I was debating wether I should download the CDs, and just buy some gear / donate, or simply buy the CDs. After seeing the package (thanks to this thread!), however, I bought both the i686 and P4 sets.

Nice Job!

Wow, very nice. Leave it to Gentoo to find some neat way of doing something that's otherwise usually boring :)

I'm definitely planning to pick up a set now.

True computer geeks, maybe. It's perfectly possible to geek out over flowers -- brightly colored aromatic sex organs, often with geometric designs in the ultraviolet that serve as landing guides for pollinating insects. Sometimes edible at different stages of formation, often with lots of fructose. What's not to like? :)

Gentoo has always had an element of style about it. It's like the vesarce of GNU/Linux distributions.

I would take a gentoo cd over a crappy red hat cd any day of the week. The gentoo cd's are nice and elegant, while still giving the users a since of style :-P
Red hat cd's are just blah

They need to sell a blank RW CD with the Gentoo logo and misc art on it, so we can keep the sucker up to date with all the RC's.
