I now have several computers running Gentoo in a network. Some of the the computers have the same applications installed. However, each of the computers have a few unique applications. I want to reduce the size of /usr on most of the computers. I already serve /usr/portage, via nfs, to all of the other computers in the network. Now I'm wondering how to serve the man, info, and doc directories.
I could just serve it. However, portage would then have massive file collisions with the common applications.
I could just serve it and tell portage, on the client computers, not to install man, info, and doc files. However, I would then only have those files for the software installed on the server.
Does anyone have any thoughts on sharing the man, info, and doc directories without losing files and without portage having fits?
Thanks for any insight!
