I just emerged apache and did a: /etc/init.d/apache2 start
I can not see the default web page "It works!"
I do get a few messages at startup:
icc_project_ia32 init.d # /etc/init.d/apache2 start
* Caching service dependencies ...
* Starting apache2 ...
apache2: apr_sockadr_info_get() failed for icc_project_ia32
apache2: Coud not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for Servername
Any ideas on what I need to do? _________________ Registered Linux User: 437619

Not sure this is unsupported software.
Sort out the hostname on the machine, but this doesn't usually stop it running.
Run netstat -tunlp and a ps to see if it is really starting once you done above step. Check Apache logs during. |

use gcc? Not all packages will work with icc. _________________ My emerge --info
Have you run revdep-rebuild lately? It's in gentoolkit and it's worth a shot if things don't work well.

Only the kernel is compiled with icc (and it does not work with the gcc kernel either) _________________ Registered Linux User: 437619

This solved it thx! Changing the /etc/hosts file:
127.0.0.1 icc_project_ia32 _________________ Registered Linux User: 437619
