Hi. I just updated the gcc compiler to version 3.3 and also glibc to the latest version in portage, and I decided to reemerge/compile my system over night. So, I typed 'emerge -e world' and went to sleep. When I woke up today, I went to check the status, and it appeared to be stuck on compiling gettext, so I killed the emerge and figured that maybe something strange just happened that caused it not to compiler correctly.
I tried to compile it again (I tried twice today) later today, and it go stuck again. Here is what happens...

it gets to point where it is doing '/bin/sh ../lib/javacomp.sh -d . ./gnu/gettext/GetTextResource.class' and freezes. Just before that it enters the java-intl directory.

Any ideas on what might be happening?

gettext seems to have some problems with gcj, a quick workaround is to set USE="-java". Check bugzilla, I bet there is already a bug for that.
