I am looking for a VoIP solution that lets me talk to other PC users (Linux AND Windows), over local LAN and over Internet.
For connection over Inet, it should be able to pass through a masquerading firewall (linux, perhaps with some router, proxy on it) and be secure.
It should provide an understandable speech-quality, and keep latency tolerable.
It would be fine if it could be interfaced via ISDN or modem on normal phone-network (POTS).
From that Comparision between SIP and H.323 I guess that SIP support would be cool, too.
I have been using tools from gaming like battlecom and teamspeak, teamspeak is ok, but its neither open nor is there anybody who could tell me about its security.
What software is out there for this?
Is there anybody who has got something like this working? |

Check out quicknet's Phone Card if you want high-quality VoIP - http://www.quicknet.net. The driver available in the linux kernel is not the most current driver. If you're interested, check out http://www.openh323.org for drivers - these are the guys who wrote the h323 stack.
