|
|
I recently emerged VirtualBox to use with my HTC 8125 with Windows Mobile 5.0 on an XP install. However I cannot get my USB to work. Here is some output of what I have done thus far:
VirtualBox install:
Code: |
* app-emulation/virtualbox-bin
Latest version available: 1.6.6
Latest version installed: 1.6.6
Size of files: 42,307 kB
Homepage: http://www.virtualbox.org/
Description: Family of powerful x86 virtualization products for enterprise as well as home use
License: PUEL
* app-emulation/virtualbox-modules
Latest version available: 1.6.6-r1
Latest version installed: 1.6.6-r1
Size of files: 192 kB
Homepage: http://www.virtualbox.org/
Description: Kernel Modules for Virtualbox
License: GPL-2
|
I then checked to see what GID I have for USb group:
Code: |
$ getent group usb
usb::85:scarecrow
|
So, I add this line to /etc/fstab
Code: |
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=85,devmode=664 0 0
|
I proceed to logout/login. I still do not have access to USB devices in VB settings or recognized in XP.
Any ideas?? _________________ Sall

I tested another USB device and come to find out the only device not being recognized is the HTC 8125. When I run a lsusb on my other pc's I see it in the list however on my laptop, it is not recognized. I have tried all other USb ports and tried using a usb hub. No avail. Any idea? _________________ Sall

Ok then ;] You didn't mention that in previous posts so it looked simply rude.
Anyway:
1. This won't solve your current problem (as it has nothing to do with virualbox), but I suggest updating to a recent version of virtualbox. There is 2.0.6 in portage and in jokey overlay there is 2.1.2 (wich is the current official version of virtualbox) which has 3d acceleration support - people actually play opengl games on it and directx support is on the way.
2. Since your problem has nothing to do with virtual, I suggest starting a relevant topic in the kernel/hardware forum and putting [RESOLVED] or something similar in the name of this thread.
BTW You may want to turn on verbose usb debug in your kernel and see if it says anything of use. |
