|
|
I have a box running Gentoo that I am using as a file server. Recently it has been behaving poorly after only running for a couple hours to a couple days the box disappears from the network. When I try to plugin a monitor and keyboard to see what is wrong I can only see a black screen and the keyboard powers down after half a second.
I reboot the box and everything works normaly for a couple more hours (except for grub taking a while to load).
thanks in advanced _________________ SCH-U520 reverse engineering at http://jmaxxz.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=50:samsung-sch-u520-bitpim&catid=18:tech&Itemid=35

run memtest to check memory?
open up the box to see if it is full of dust?
if you check the box before it crashes, and after it is running slow, is any process hogging resources? _________________ jim |

could it be overheating due to a clogged cpu fan? i had some wierd issues like that on my old closet server and when i opened it up the fan was fully clogged. after i cleaned it out it ran better. _________________ elsphinc # kickin_ass &
