Hi,

I'm working on installing openbox as my WM on a new Gentoo system. Now I've found that I've ended up with a bit of a mish mash of different graphics toolkits. I'm runnning GTK2 apps where possible such as XArchiver and Thunar. Now I've got Opera as a web browser and that'll only install as Qt3 on the PowerPC.

Now I've compilled Openoffice from source but it doesn't want to work as GTK2. It seems to be GTK1 and it's a really long install so I want to make sure I've got it right first.

IIRC outside of gnome, openoffice defaults to some ugly toolkit of it's own regardless of whether or not it's compiled with gtk+ 2 support.

It's been a while since I used openoffice at all, but setting the env variable OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP="gnome" used to get it to use gtk.

In KDE3 it also gives you the KDE3 front-end.

In KDE4, though, I get the ugly grey thingy with terrible fonts.

OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP="kde", although it'll be quite a while before it supports kde 4 I'd imagine...

Thanks! That's perfect. I don't need to wait another 24 hours for it to compile!

Yeah, but GTK2 is preferable to that OO widget monstrosity. I don't have KDE3 installed anymore, so I'll probably use GTK2. Thanks for the hint.
