|
|
Hi, when finished with the boot loader I finish by using the following commands:
cd
cdimage ~# umount /mnt/gentoo/boot /mnt/gentoo/dev /mnt/gentoo/proc /mnt/gentoo
cdimage ~# reboot
However, when rebooting, I am returned to the livecd prompt. Any ideas? |

You have to remove the live cd, then reboot. |

How do I remove the CD? It's not an actual CD but a CD image. |

You need to remove the CD from the CD drive seen by the bootloader. Since you say it is a CD image, I assume you are installing inside a virtual machine. In that case, you need to direct the hypervisor to eject the CD image from the virtual CD drive. The method varies by emulator. What emulator are you using? |

|
|
I'm using VMWare and I am executing the following:
As the system is rebooting, I hit the F2 button. This takes me to the bios screen where I go to
the boot menu.
I place Hard Drive at the top using the Shift + , I hit F10 to save the file.
When reboot is finished, I am at the GRUB prompt.
Can you help? |

I don't remember if the Live CD had GRUB on it or not. Anyways if you're positive it's the LiveCD's GRUB and not the one you installed, just boot with the Live CD, open cfdisk and mark the hard disk with /boot bootable. It should then boot from the HD. |
