I've tried doing a fresh install of it last week on a fresh system. I used emerge gnome with simple use flags suchs as "X gtk2 gnome alsa cups imap ipv6 opengl". Gnome configuration didn't work. All the xml schemas were a mess and nothing seemed to work. Every app would just crash when it realized every single setting was non-existant.
I tried installing it again using the GRP and using stage 3. Nautilus and many other apps didn't work, i must add that the gnome GRP is incomplete. Many things needed to be downloaded. This time i noticed that during the emerge -k gnome scrollkeeper among many other things would become somehow corrupted along the way. They'd start out clean and working then they'd go to shit.
I'm getting really annoyed that gnome nor any of its apps nor evolution work. It's driving me insane and i wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same results. I figure someone must be because i followed all the instructions word for word doing the install just to make 100% sure that i was forgetting something. I didn't do anything special. All i did was USE="bindist" emerge -k gnome the most recent time and emerge gnome the previous time. _________________ Jabber: goalieca[AT]jabber.fr

I recently rebuilt my box with gnome instead of kde, no major issues, here are the flags I used:
USE="X gtk gnome alsa -arts -qt -kde cups tiff dvd sse 3dnow hyriand oss"
This was with ~x86 enabled. |
