Hi,
Post Recording Processing doesn't seem to be working on my Mythbox.
Configuration:
mythtv-0.21_p18314-r1
checked allow transcoding under recording options
checked enable transcoding under ALL recording profiles
Any ideas???

Hi,
Check /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log to see if there are any errors starting the transcode process. Also, IIRC you need to add 'mtd' (mythtv transcode daemon) to default runlevel for transcoding to take place.
Check also through mythtv-setup that transcoding jobs are enabled for this backend.

| Thanks, there were no errors in the log but the mtd wasn't running or in the default running level. I will see if it works tonight. |

Still no go ... here's part of a log file ... the only thing that queues up is the comflag.
And I set the "allow" transcode option under myth-setup, recording options and the recording profile. And if manually set a program to transcode via the job options it works ... the program is manually queued and transcoded.

I had a look in the database and found this,

Hi,
If the transcode process is not actually running (check for mythtranscode process) then yes, you can safely purge this entry. Try to, and see if then new shows are being transcoded.

It seems in that the "automatically queued" transcode job are not being queued at all. I am watching the job queue table

I don't see any problem here. You say that setting job options to "transcode program" works? This is the way I always use transcoding, at least. I've never managed )never tried, in fact) to configure the backend to automatically transcode every recording it does, even LiveTV ones. Is that what you are trying to do?
Anyone, the only difference I find with my computer is the JobsRunOnRecordHost setting, which I have set to 1.
I don't know if this can be of any help to you.

I will try the JobsRunOnRecordHost setting.
Can you try auto transcoding?
You set on a per recording basis,
Find a recording in "up coming recordings"
Choose a recording
select edit options
select post recording processing
the second option should be related to trancoding ... select trancode new recordings
select the "trancode using" option to something like HIgh Quality
Give that a try and see if it works for you.
I am contemplating about blowing away my DB and starting from scratch.

This is the way I always set up transcoding: when I schedule a show I manually configure post processing options for transcoding. This makes every show recorded from that schedule (i.e. when using "record always", etc... modes) to being transcoded automatically.
I mean, I've never needed to manually queue the job once recorded for transcoding, it just obeys what I've configured in schedule.
Anyway, the basic rules for transcoding to work are these (if I'm not missing something....):
· you must enable transcoding at host level (JobAllowTranscode setting, yet set to 1)
· you must have 'mtd' daemon running
· you must enable "autotranscoding" for the "Default" (or the one you use but, according to your record table this is) recording profile. This is set through mythfrontend in Setup -> TV Setup -> Recording. Configure the transcoding profiles inside "Transcoder", then enable autotranscoding for the "Default" profile of the card type you use (which should appear there).
· you must select the transcoding profile to use in post-processing options when scheduling
If and only if  all these options are correctly configured will transcoding work for you...

Well, if you backed up your previous database you could try to import 'recorded', 'recordedprogram' and 'oldrecorded' tables into your new database. This will more or less do the job, but ensure that your current channels have the same 'chanid' number than before.
I'm glad transcoding works for you now, anyway.
