Howdie,

I updated to Xorg 1.5.3 a few days ago and after working around my missing mouse and keyboard I can start up and log in and work and stuff.. but not shutdown or reboot..
All that happens is that KDE turns all black&white, but that's it. If I click with the mouse the color comes back and I can work again..

Any idea what's wrong there?

I had a similar issue. In my case it was a caused by nvidia drivers 180.35. A downgrade solved it.

Aren't those still unstable? I haven't unmasked them yet and believe I still use 177.82 (will check once back home...)

Yup, still using 177.82...
I am not sure that I need to clarify that but I can shutdown the PC manually by issuing
Code:

shutdown -hP now

from any console...

This is a nvidia problem, it is more noticeable in the 180.* series but the bug can be reproduced on the 17* drivers also.

Hmm... then I need to find out what triggers it now after a set of updates that are NOT nvidia-driver updates..
My best guess is the xorg-update, isn't it?
