| Is there a status page somewhere that lists which services are up and which are down? I have been having problems accessing Bugzilla recently and I wanted to know if it is me or if there is planned downtime or if it is something else. Maybe there is mailing list where things like this get posted? |

Nothing formal, as such.

It is a known problem, due to massive abuse by a known set of addresses which are being banned from bugs.gentoo.org. It is expected to remain down for at least the next few hours.

Nothing formal, planned downtime is generally announced to gentoo-dev. |

Thanks for the information. Do you think some kind of a status page can be easily added to the homepage, given the new format? Maybe other users will find it convenient too. |

The updating system for the homepage is currently being rewritten, so if it would be added it would not happen at least until the new system is deployed.
For the time being another server has been rotated in, so bugs.gentoo.org is available again. |

I don't get it. Why would anyone bother to DDOS a bug-reporting site? |

Unfortunately "because you can" is a good enough reason for some people. |
