Hi,

I'm trying to install Gentoo for the first time and I'm having some problems. I've managed to download and burn the iso file (I've tried minimal, liveCD and sytemrecovery), but when I try to boot the cd my computer doesn't seem to be able to read the iso file. I just have a blank screen for about a minute while the computer tries to read the disc and then it gives up and goes to the grub menu of the OS i already have on my computer. I think the DVD drive might be broken. Would that seem likely or am I being totally dense and missing something out of the boot process?

What "file"? You should not just create CD with single ISO file in its root dir, ISO is an image of whole disc.

Thanks for your response. It seems the problem was that I was using DVD's instead of CD. Tried it with a CD and everything worked fine.
