Try to recompile the nvidia-driver and openGL-interface with:
Code:
emerge nvidia-glx
emerge nvidia-kernel

Make sure the nvidia driver is loaded from /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.4 (or equivalent)

Hope this helps

Also after you re-emerge those components I suggest you run opengl-update nvidia. GLX won't work without it, you cna try before if you haven't changed your kernel.

in /etc/X11/XF86Config do you have something similar to

Load "glx"
Load "dri"

towards the top?

Code:
my XF86Config

# This loads the GLX module
# Load "glx"

X can't load GLX if the line telling it to do so is commented out...

Remove that # from before "Load" & restart X.

I'm fairly sure the "Load "glx"" line is for the Xorg-glx.. nvidia-glx has it's own.

I am also having this problem, fairly sure it's related to the latest glibc update (going by some old posts).

EDIT: Oh crap.. Oct 10 2003. Sorry
