|
|
I am helping out musikc, the maintainer of the Gentoo Store.
We want to ask the community for some suggestions.
Are their any products not currently in the store that you would like to be able to purchase?
Are their any graphic artist's that would be interested in a t-shirt creation contest,
or other graphics to enhance our current collection of graphics.

I'd really like to have a laptop-sleeve, somewhat soft on the inside, but still protective, preferred with a zipper. I'd like one for my 11.1" book, in white/black/darkgrey with either gentoo-logo, some funky statement or larry the cow. |

Yep, although I'd prefer a clothed outside, something like my current. |

How about some of those stickers that are on laptops that say 'Gentoo Capable' instead of the windows ones?

Well looks like there is a reason only certain products are offered for purchase. I received this reply from cafepress.

Dear David,
Thank you for contacting CafePress.com. At this time, we do not offer the products referenced at these links as products you can customize with us. However, I believe these are wonderful ideas and have passed them along to our merchandising team. You are more than welcome to make the product suggestions on our community forums as well. I have listed the link below for your convenience.
http://forums.cafepress.com/eve/ubb.x
Also, you can begin adding products we do offer to your shop by following these easy steps.
1. Log into your CaféPress.com account.
2. Click on the “Your Shops” tab.
3. Click on the “Section /Products” link for the shop you want to add products to.
4. Press the “Add Products” button. This will direct you to the product list where you can select all the products available for you to choose from.
5. After selecting your product(s), and returning to the Products page, you can begin customizing your products by check marking/ selecting the item and choosing an option from the “Make Changes To” drop down menu.
I hope this information has been helpful! If there is anything else I can do for you please let me know.
We hope we have answered all of your questions. If not, please chat with us now.(Mon-Fri)
Best Regards,
Crystal R.

Question: I am helping the Gentoo Foundation with their store;
http://www.cafepress.com/officialgentoo/
I am trying to obtain information on the process involved to add some products. We would like to add case badges like this;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300279398802
also laptop sleeve's like;
http://www.baoobaoo.com/images_v2/upfilepic/200812322141092940.jpg
With some type of Gentoo Logo
|
So looks like this is more involved than just adding a few items to the store. It involves the foundation examining their relationship with cafepress and if it is the direction they want to proceed. _________________ http://dev.gentoo.org/~dabbott/ |

If you dont mind me saying, and i really dont want to be bashing anything, but everytime i see some store featuring basic cafepress stuff i really just browse away.
I really do love shirts though and i buy a lot and in the past ive even considered buying a Gentoo shirt, but after seeing that it was cafepress i just donated the foundation some money instead.
I think with some original designs (and the Gentoo Community is bound to have some really good designers) sales and promotions would skyrocket.
But this is just my opinion ofcourse

I'd definately purchase some laptop/computer stickers and no doubt a t-shirt if there is a design I like.
I'm not keen on the current ones as they are relatively simple. A funky picture and more preferably a snazzy tag would be great, but alas I am a) artistically inept; b) not great with punchlines/tags (probably why I've found a niche for myself as a statistician!).

Hi,
I'd really love to buy some Gentoo stuff (i hoped there was some available at Fosdem), but my problem with cafepress is that i simply can't pay. Cafepress seems to accept a range of Credit Cards, but i don't have one at all. My preferred method is a bank transfer but it seems a bit outdated since almost nobody seems to accept it.
As for the stuff in the store itself: I like most t-shirts (especially the emerge system and "i'd rather be compiling") but i don't like the huge Gentoo logo on the back. Also for the ones with the logo at the front i prefer the ones with a smaller logo.
Best regards,

Does someone know a shop, where you can order custom sleeves with custom graphics? I only found some shops which do custom sizes, but only on their standard-designs. |

Yeah, this bothered me a bit as well.
I bought a hoodie and a tshirt
-both the hoodie and the tshirt *only* had a front logo.
-on the tshirt, the front logo was too big (I'm a 6'7" behemoth, I can't imagine how big it must look on someone normal sized!)
-on the tshirt at least, having a logo that is off-center, and NOT having a logo on the back, makes no sense.
I think for starters we need to revamp the existing t-shirt designs.
Then look and see if it's possible to add something like a wool cap with the logo, other little things cafepress (or a competitor?) is likely to offer
but mainly a revamp of the tshirts |

so, this is very crude work, done on a laptop touchpad mouse
something like this, with a console on the back doing something very gentoo-ish
for anyone curious, this is from the "gentoo-emergence" GDM theme. I don't know what the copyright or license on that would be
I have zero artistic ability whatsoever, so this is a crude hack...but hell, I'd wear it (clean it up a bit of course)

have somebody who's good with graphics and photo editing do something like that, but make it look more like a purplish-blue smokey flame were coming offa the lil fella |

I guess this shows how difficult it is to design a t-shirt: I generally don't like to have stuff on the back, just the front
I may be just a hack, but i like it
