|
|
When is it planned to come up with a new version of the minimal install CD? The last minimal install CD is "2008.0" and from last summer!
When I was trying to install a new machine last weekend with this CD I faces several problems like SATA drives were only working when compatibility mode was enabled in the BIOS or the on board ATHEROS NIC is not supported, so I was not able to connect to the Internet.
What is the current philosophy of new Gentoo versions?
Best regards

Current minimal install cd's are on the gentoo mirrors http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors2.xml (pick a mirror) under /releases/x86/autobuilds/20090318/ (today; now; number changes ) When the time comes you should get stage3 tarball here also.
x86 is example, select desired arch |

Maybe the "Gentoo Handbook" should be updated with this info, because it still points to the directory "releases/x86/2008.0/installcd/" for downloading the minimal-install. The new autobuilds are not mentioned anywhere afaIk.

Please submit a documentation bug on bugzilla to request this change. Be sure to search first in case someone has already opened a similar bug (don't worry, bugzie search is better than forum search ). _________________ Plants are pithy, brooks tend to babble--I'm content to lie between them.

Nowadays I use SystemRescueCD, because I didn't know that the autobuild was also for LiveCD, I tought that it was only for the Stage. |
