Can I have Linux play CDDA digitally by default? At the moment I'm using alsaplayer (the only player with digital CDDA support I found), but that player is a piece of crap that sees the entire CD as one single one-hour track ("OK, I think track 8 begins about 38 minutes in...").
I don't have an audio cable between my cdrom/sound card, and I'm too cheap to buy one if I can have Linux play CDDA digitally instead. |

1. no, there is no such thing as a "default" in linux for playing audio from a device. this is not windoze ...
2. about your problem with the tracks - the Xmms-CdRead plugin for XMMS does that perfectly ... unfortunately it's not available in the portage tree, the author has stopped the development (as it seems) and this is such a wonderfull plugin _________________ A mathematician is a machine for turning coffee into theorems. ~ Alfred Renyi (*1921 - †1970) |
