Hello,
I am recently exposed to a gentoo machine and want to check which version it is running,
I poked around /etc to find the release info but it seems gentoo is different from several other distros.
Thanks for any pointers.

gentoo does not have such releases like "RHEL 5.1".
there are profiles, like "default/linux/amd64/2008.0".
run "emerge --info", that gives you quite a lot of information. |
