|
|
This problem has been weirding me out and I haven't found any help via google or on the gentoo forums. In a nutshell, if I try to start a bittorrent client while on wireless it raises my cpu usage to around 50% and never starts (i have tried using deluge, transmission, rtorrent, vuze and i receive the same problem). If the first network i connect to is wired the torrents download fine, but if i connect to wireless at all i recieve the stated issue. Connecting to wired connection after being on wireless also produces the issue and I have no idea of what is causing it.
Apologies, but i have no idea what information to attach that would be helpful
EDIT: Fixed with latest kernel update (2.6.28-r5)

What wireless drivers are you using?
If ath5k, try madwifi. _________________ AMD FX6100 CPU, 16 GiB RAM, OCZ Vertex 3 SSD

I have an Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card and consequently am using the iwl3945 kernel module. Also I use wicd to connect to the network. Browsing using firefox works fine, it is only the bittorrent applications that lock up when started which confuses me since it happens with all of the ones listed in the first post. |

ath5k (Atheros) seem to get confused when transferring large blocks of data but you have Intel so I don't know.
You could try the driver as a module and see it there is a new one from Intel. _________________ AMD FX6100 CPU, 16 GiB RAM, OCZ Vertex 3 SSD

The driver is already compiled as a module but that shouldn't be the problem since I don't have this error when running Ubuntu |
