When I tried to run epsxe with the X11 GPU driver plugin or when I run mplayer, I get this error:
==========================================================================
Xlib: extension "XFree86-VidModeExtension" missing on display ":0.0".
vo: X11 running at 1024x768 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0.0" => local display)
==========================================================================
(however mplayer does work)
What is this error? How do I fix it? I'm using nvidia drivers, and I"ve tried doing opengl-update xfree instead of opengl-update nvidia. Do I need to add something in the XF86Config file? I hope someone can help, thanks. |

Actually I answered my own question . It was an option in the XF86Config file. A long time ago I disabled the vid mode extension because here's how the file describes it:
# Uncomment this to disable tuning with the xvidtune client. With
# it the client can still run and fetch card and monitor attributes,
# but it will not be allowed to change them. If it tries it will
# receive a protocol error.
# Option "DisableVidModeExtension"
I didn't need or want to use xvidtune, and my video settings were perfect so I never had any troubles with it until just now. |
